A Show Tune Extravaganza

The Burlingame and San Mateo High School choirs will perform a Show Tune Extravaganza concert on Thursday, Feb. 11 at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center. The concert will start at 7:00 p.m., and all proceeds collected from this show will go directly towards their upcoming tour to New Orleans.

The concert will feature the BHS and SMHS concert choirs as well as the chamber choir, an after-school collaboration between students from both schools.  Some of the highlights of the program include “My Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music, “Forget About the Boy” from Thoroughly Modern Millie, and featured solos from select soloists.

“The choir has been preparing for this concert since the beginning of the new year,” choir vice president Tesia Cheung said.  “We’ve put a lot into this concert in addition to preparing music for our trip to New Orleans.”

Choir president Jazmine Williams believes that this show tune concert will truly capture the enjoyment of the audience.

“It’s really fun to do songs from musicals because they have such an energetic style, and it’s really great to bring that energy through choral music,” she said.

Tickets to the concert can be purchased at the door for $5 for students and $10 for adults.
