Senior Carlo Lopiccolo will be playing for the College of San Mateo’s baseball team next year.
As a three-time recipient of the Athlete of the Year Award, Lopiccolo has been committed to high school athletics for the past four years. Although he was a three sport athlete for his high school career, he has always prioritized baseball.
“As a little kid, I always had dreams of playing baseball at a higher level,” Lopiccolo said. “Having a love for the game like I’ve had makes me want to continue going out to the field everyday and playing with my team. I enjoy football and basketball but baseball is just something on a whole different level.”
After CSM, Lopiccolo hopes to continue baseball at a higher level of education. Although nothing is definite, he hopes to play at the University of Oregon.
“It is a great school and the baseball team is awesome,” he said. “It’s a school I can see myself at in the future.”
While Lopiccolo is thinking of his future as a collegiate player, he emphasized the memories and lessons he has learned on the Burlingame team.
“My favorite thing about playing at BHS was becoming a better player through the coaches,” Lopiccolo said. “They preached about being not just better players but better men off the field as well. I also loved making so many memories with my teammates through my freshman year till now.”
