Walking into Caffe Central, I had my expectations set fairly high for this coffee shop which just recently replaced La Panotiq, a place I had previously enjoyed. This cafe had a very similar atmosphere, very comfortable and modern with a cute aesthetic. There were plenty of benches and chairs around small tables, furnished with flower pots. The place was fairly full, with families and students sitting around tables, either talking or studying.

As March approaches, the theater program is preparing to present their annual spring play, “The Iliad, the Odyssey and all of Greek Mythology in 99 Minutes or Less.”After completing a successful run of the fall musical “My Favorite Year” in October, the drama department is moving forward and tackling a new production.

I recently went to Joe and the Juice - a Danish juice-bar chain that, in early February, opened a store on Burlingame Avenue where The Plant had previously been located.The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the relaxed, inviting atmosphere. People were taking advantage of the comfy seating and various nooks situated throughout the restaurant, sipping juices, and hammering away at MacBook Pros.

The Jan. 26 winter rally took place during lunch in the gym and was the grand finale of “resolutions” spirit week, during which each day had a theme that represented a New Year’s resolution. For example, pajama day corresponded to the resolution to get more sleep.

Senior Kelly Wakasa has found Internet fame through the lifestyle and skating videos he posts on Instagram and YouTube. Although he only started the Instagram account as a place to post skating videos without being judged on his personal account, he started to gain a following. Once he reached 10 thousand followers, he became motivated by the level of success he had reached and started to pursue the accounts in a more serious way.

The girls’ varsity volleyball team went the furthest that any Burlingame volleyball team has ever gone: the NorCal semifinals.That semifinals game ended the team’s season with a loss against James Logan High School. The Panthers had over 20 wins and only five losses this entire season.

This past Thursday and Friday, Nov. 16 and 17, the Burlingame Improv Theatre Enthusiasts (BITE) held a two-day show. On Thursday, there were two teams made up exclusively of Burlingame students who competed against each other with set improvisational games they planned to play. On Friday, BITE mixed with teams from San Mateo, Aragon and Hillsdale to create three teams.

Every Thursday for 30 minutes, friends gather in room C113 to fly drones and socialize over lunch. During the club meetings, which were started by experienced drone pilot sophomore Aristotle Marangu, students learn to navigate the controls of drones and eventually perform certain tasks with them.

Almost every day during lunchtime, Burlingame University student Justin Entenmann, wearing a baseball cap and dark sunglasses, walks his three-legged Border Collie named Ellie over to a patch of grass next to the senior quad. He throws a neon green tennis ball, and the dog fetches it.Along with daily walks and games of fetch, Entenmann feeds and pets Ellie.
