Rep. Jackie Speier and Actor Patricia Arquette discuss hot topics at Burlingame Library
Hours after the confirmation of Associate Justice Brett Kavanuagh, community members gathered at the Burlingame Public Library for a conversation between Jackie Speier and Patricia Arquette.
VIP guests had the chance to commiserate with Speier and Arquette at a reception prior to the main event.
Rep. Speier spoke with constituents and took pictures.
Guests were served water or wine, paired with an assortment of bread and cheese.
Senior Lilli Hirth came to the event in all black attire, which she said was in response to the confirmation of Kavanaugh.
Arquette and Speier discussed a range of topics, including Arquette’s life and accomplishments, the current stage of the fight for women’s rights and the reasons why they believe the Democrats should take the House in the midterms.
The pair discussed the importance of developing robust cybersecurity. “We’re still building an arsenal for our grandfathers’ wars,” Speier said.
