It was a successful Wednesday night for the boys’ varsity baseball team. The team’s senior night game ended with a win over the Woodside High School Cats with a score of 18-2.
The senior-dominated lineup kicked off the game with eight runs, putting the Panthers ahead early in the game. The Panthers continued to score runs consistently throughout the game, totaling a whopping 18 runs.
Seniors Mitchell DeMartini and Gray Goodman hit very well for their last home game as Panthers. Demartini was 3 for 3 with a double and 2 runs batted in (RBI), and Goodman was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI.
Wednesday night’s pitchers held the Cats to two runs in seven innings. Senior Jack Cauchi gave up 2 runs on three hits over 3 innings. Senior and standout pitcher Paulie Ferrari pitched 2 perfect innings, and junior Nick Cerelli and DeMartini each pitched a scoreless inning.
The game marked the last home game of the regular season, and as tradition for all BHS sports, the senior night celebration. The boys’ varsity baseball team honored 11 seniors after the game, with a ceremony complete with individual walk-up songs, and flowers for all of the players and their families.
The boys have one more away game against Woodside on Friday, May 12 at 4 p.m. The Panthers will play in CCS in the following weeks, so stay tuned for updates!
