Boys’ Lacrosse gears up for the season

Despite a shaky start to the season up against challenging opponents, the boys lacrosse team is looking forward to a successful season. Their first pre-season games were against Menlo Atherton, which they lost 0-19, Serra, which they lost 8-5, and San Benito, which they won 6-5 in a double-overtime game.

Senior player Eoghan Treanor emphasized the potential that the team has once the roster is complete. “We have a lot of talent this year. We’ll be missing last year’s seniors but I’m confident we’ll be able to make up for it. We have a challenging schedule but I’m excited to take it on,” Treanor said.

Although the team previously had not cut players, the process has changed this year. The tryouts have included a few cuts. In addition to the new tryout process, the team has been practicing rigorously in order to prepare for their season. So far, the team members have been focusing on strength training and conditioning. “We work a lot on our stick skills and we train with live gameplay,” Treanor said.

Since this article has gone to print, the team has had one game against Sacred Heart Prep on March 2. Come support the team at their home game against Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep on March 9.
