La Corneta
La Corneta
La Corneta, a Mexican restaurant located on Burlingame Ave., offered a similar set-up to Caffe Central (which was previously rated for safety by the Burlingame B in October). Customers are prompted to wait in an indoor line to order and pay, proceeding to eat outside. However, where Caffe Central lacks ideal protocol — cleanliness and social distancing — La Corneta shines. The restaurant is well-cleaned, with sanitized tables and surfaces. Inside, the line is marked and orderly; however, diners did not necessarily abide by the social distancing guidelines, occasionally mingling between the taped markings on the floor. The outdoor tables are separated by ample distance — at least five feet — with no barriers. La Corneta’s main weakness is in pick-up and take-out, where customers have to walk through the restaurant to the back to pay and pick up their food. Though staff at the restaurant wore masks, they did not always have on gloves. Ultimately, La Corneta was rated with a solid score of a ‘B’.
