Maggie Murdoff is a senior and the Editor-in-chief of the Burlingame B. She is the Senior Class President, is involved in Service Commission, and plays water polo and swims for BHS. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her friends and family. She is excited to contribute to the Burlingame B, and hopes that it will continue to allow her to meet new people and open her eyes to what's happening in her school and in the world.
Charlie Chapman is in his junior year at Burlingame High School. Previously, he attended Burlingame Intermediate School. This is his second year in the Journalism program, and his first year as the Managing-Editor. He is excited about receiving the opportunity to write for the Burlingame B. He enjoys spending his free time in the ocean.
Stella Lorence is a third-year journalism student. She is also the Drum Major of the Burlingame Band and enjoys being on the light crew for all of the Burlingame productions. In her free time, she likes to spend time with her friends and family.
Vishu Prathikanti is currently a junior and an Advanced Journalism student, and the current web editor. His favorite subjects so far are AP Lang, and puts his passion for writing into journalism. He also enjoys AP Chemistry, and is currently a tutor for the Chemistry tutoring club, as well as a paid tutor for BHS. In his free time he enjoys watching TV, in particular Japanese anime, with some of his favorite shows being Parasyte, Welcome to the NHK, and Death Note.
Priscilla Jin is a senior at Burlingame High School and a third year journalism student. This year she will be managing the finances of the newspaper as the Business Manager. She is also a student columnist for the San Mateo Daily Journal. Outside of school she loves to watch movies and try new restaurants with her friends and family.
Sofia Guerra is a senior and the chief-photographer for the Burlingame B. On campus, she is a part of the cross country team and takes part in several clubs. She enjoys history and English, and spends her free time writing, reading, and running. Sociology and biology are especially captivating points of interest for the reporter, and she hopes to use journalism as a way to discover new career opportunities and meet new people.
Sasha Benke is a junior at BHS and it is her second year on the journalism team. Sasha is a member of student council, an athlete that plays for the BHS volleyball team as well as club throughout the year, and the head of the non-profit Relay For Life. She loves to travel with her family to practice speaking Russian and Spanish. Sasha enjoys coffee outings with her friends, eating mass amounts of french toast and walking her King Charles Cavalier, Gatsby (who is named after the main character of her favorite book).
Lily Page is a junior student, and this is her second year in Journalism. Lily is the co-president of the Burlingame chapter of Girls Learn International (GLI), and she plays violin in the Peninsula Youth Artists. In her free time, Lily reads, listens to music, paints, and drinks copious amounts of tea. She also adores snuggling with her cats Boo boo, Gem and Winston.
James Lowdon is currently a junior at Burlingame High School. When he is not at BHS, James enjoys playing waterpolo, swimming, and video games. He also spends much of his time listening to many different kinds of music, but hates Country. His favorite subject is history, but James has no idea what he wants to be when he grows up. Occasionally James is adventurous and goes outside to backpack, hike, etc, but this rarely occurs.
Darrion Chen is a junior at Burlingame High School, and is a reporter and designer for the Burlingame B. In his free time, he enjoys reading or studying history. He is also an active member on the school robotics team, and runs cross country and track for BHS. He also loves to travel, having been to many countries around the world. He always enjoys classic rock, progressive rock, or heavy metal.
Jilly Rolnick is a current senior and third year journalism student. In addition to writing for the B, she plays lacrosse, runs cross country and is on the senior class cabinet at BHS. Outside of school, Rolnick loves to travel, plays more lacrosse, is a Medill Cherub alum and eats far too many grilled cheeses.
Hanna Sato is a sophomore at Burlingame High School and excited to pursue her interest in writing by reporting for the Burlingame B. Outside of school, she participates in the BHS Tennis Team and has been a member of the Northstar Ski Team for eight years. In her free time she enjoys baking, watching Harry Potter and eating quesadillas.
Claire Hunt is a sophomore at Burlingame High School and new to journalism. She runs cross country and track during the school year, loves tacos, and has been a vegetarian for 2 years. She also has two dogs, likes to travel, and is excited to write for the Burlingame B this year.
Logan Turner is a senior and a first-year journalism student. Outside of school she enjoys singing in a choir, playing the guitar, spending time with her family and friends, and laughing. She looks forward to writing for the Burlingame B this year!
BHS sophomore Maddie Greene is excited for her first year of journalism and the opportunities that come along with it. She being a part of the productions at BHS, spending time with her friends, and traveling. At school, her favorite subject is English, and she looks forward to expanding her writing ability through journalism.
Payton Toomey is a junior and first year Journalism student at the Burlingame B. At BHS, she is the International Student Union commissioner in ASB, participates in service commission, and is on the Relay for Life Committee. Outside of school, she loves to travel, volunteer, and spend time with friends.
Allie Kennedy is a junior, and this is her first year as a reporter for The Burlingame B. Allie is also the secretary of the BHS Mock Trial team and a member of the Junior Class Cabinet. Outside of school, she enjoys dancing in the WCDC Senior Company and reading the Harry Potter series over and over again.
Moya Liu is a sophomore at Burlingame High School, this is her first year in journalism. Moya enjoys being involved in BHS, she is part of multiple clubs on campus. Moya also likes taking pictures for The Burlingame B. In her free time, she plays tennis and listens to music.
Ben Neuman is a sophomore at Burlingame High School who has a passion for reading and playing sports. Ben was born and raised in Philadelphia, and he ended up moving out to Burlingame when he was twelve. Ben enjoys writing and looks forward to adding a new perspective to the school paper.
Annie Sun is a sophomore at Burlingame High School and a first-year journalism student. In her free time, she plays badminton along with 3 instruments: piano, clarinet, and violin. She enjoys being involved in the community and spending time with friends and family. She hopes that the Burlingame B will help her better understand the events unfolding throughout the world and community and meet new people.
Tyler Idema is a sophomore at Burlingame High School, and is currently in his first year of journalism. He hopes to work as a reporter/writer for ESPN in the future because he loves to write. Outside the classroom, he enjoys playing soccer, hanging with friends, and watching Michigan football on Saturdays.
Tekla Carlen is a sophomore at Burlingame High School. Other than working on the Burlingame B, she is part of multiple organizations on campus, including the book club and Model UN. Her favorite classes are history and English. In her spare time, she acts with the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival and likes to read and write.
Caden Thun is a sophomore and first-year reporter at the Burlingame B. He is an avid writer with a genuine interest in journalism, and he is excited to contribute to the production of the B. In his free-time, Caden enjoys playing basketball, reading, trying new foods, and sleeping.
Mrs. Murphy has been teaching at BHS since 2004. She has her Masters in Education from George Mason Universtiy and a Bachelors in Journalism and History from Indiana Universtiy. She took over the Journalism class in 2014. She enjoys guiding her students through this modern world of information and teaching them how to makse sense of it all.
