Rise Pizzeria

Rise Pizzeria

Rise Pizzeria, one of Burlingame Ave.’s many pizza restaurants, fell slightly below the rest of the pack in its safety protocols. For starters, Rise’s strengths come in its dining patio, a covered but well-ventilated seating area with substantial distance between tables. However, the seating outside of the patio was less managed, with distance between tables ranging from about three to five feet. Even less space was evident between those tables and the sidewalk, presenting further risks for walkers and diners alike. Rise also provided minimal signage and certification on its storefront, with only one visible notice posted, which spoke to California’s mask mandate. Ironically, though, customers entered and exited the restaurant without masks on, signifying loose restrictions at the restaurant. At Rise, when paying and waiting in line, customers are indoors but provided with proper ventilation (large, sliding doors are open), though no markings for social distancing were evident. Rise’s staff wore both masks and gloves at all times, which is a positive aspect of their procedures. In conclusion, though, Rise received a ‘C+’ in ratings.
