Last Friday, Feb. 12, the Senior Class Cabinet hel Last Friday, Feb. 12, the Senior Class Cabinet held a Lunar New Year Senior Drive Through in front of Burlingame High School. Parent and teacher volunteers handed out gift bags to seniors who came by that contained a stuffed animal, a pencil, an eraser and a box of sour straws candy. These gift bags were themed for Valentine’s Day on Sunday and Lunar New Year which was the day of the drive through.

“We want this year to be special for [seniors].. And still make them feel part of the school,” parent volunteer and chair for senior events, Daniella Kriner, said.

The drive through helped bring a sense of community to what has felt like a very disconnected year for students. Above all, parents at the event were excited to be able to see students' faces again, even when they were masked and inside their cars.

“That’s the best part of this is being able to see some of my students that I know from years past to see them again and some of my current students that I’ve never actually seen in person,” teacher and Senior Class Cabinet Advisor Erik Bennett said.

The Senior Class Cabinet is hoping to plan one senior event every month, drive through or otherwise, depending on how COVID-19 restrictions change.
